Zarif, who left Tehran for New York on Wednesday afternoon to take part in the third round of international negotiations on Syrian crisis, made the remarks while talking to reporters late Wednesday local time.
He said “From the very beginning, Iran had stressed that the fate and destiny of Syria should be determined by the Syrians themselves. Even though we believe that preparations are not set for a new session, but Iran is fully prepared to attend the meeting in order to hold talks particularly on fighting against terrorist and extremist groups in Syria and to see that those who caused bloodsheds in the country will have no role in its future.”
The Iranian official added that every single Syrian has the right to determine his own destiny and future. Unfortunately the preconditions set by some powers are the main reason for the ongoing war and bloodshed in Syria. Iran has urged to call off such preconditions and has emphasized on finding political solutions to solve the ongoing crisis in the country.”
Zarif underlined “The ISIL access to financial resources including selling oil to foreign customers and not stopping the entrance of their foreign supporters into Iraq and Syria are major international problems.”
Zarif added that he will also hold meetings with some of his 5+1 counterparts on implementing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), on Thursday evening.
The bilateral meetings will be held with the Chinese and German foreign ministers and another session will most probably be held with US Secretary of State on putting JCPOA into effect.
